WRINKLES AND FINE LINES
Wrinkles and fine lines are the result of natural factors, linked to the biological aging of the skin. However, certain external factors can promote their early appearance.
As we age, many factors act on the different tissues and give it a less smooth, more fragile appearance. Cell renewal is slower, which decreases the firmness and radiant appearance of the skin. Sebaceous glands are also becoming less active, resulting in dryness of the skin and a decrease in the barrier function. The epidermis is then more vulnerable and sensitized.
Skin aging is a natural process that cannot be avoided: our cells take longer to renew themselves and collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid decrease. The skin becomes dehydrated and thins. It loses its suppleness and elasticity. Wrinkles appear in areas where the skin folds.
WHAT FACTORS ACCELERATE SKIN AGEING?
- Prolonged and repeated exposure to the sun affects the aging of skin cells, just like tobacco consumption and pollution. Fine lines are the first consequences.
- Stress and lack of sleep can also contribute to skin aging.
- Lack of hydration
HOW TO PREVENT WRINKLES
- Take care of yourself, inside and out.
- Drink enough water every day, stay hydrated.
- Get enough sleep.
- Practice sports, breathe and oxygenate yourself.
- Monitor your diet (especially intake of antioxidants, vitamin C, zinc, magnesium...).
- Apply moisturizer or anti-wrinkle cream morning and evening, after properly removing makeup (to remove all residue, especially pollution).
- Protect yourself from the sun's rays with SPF30+ (even in winter).
- Regularly exfoliate and lightly scrub (on your own or with a practitioner).
- Limit your alcohol consumption (which dehydrates a lot), as well as tobacco which greatly damages the health of your skin. We also recommend hydrating your skin daily with products adapted to your skin type. You can also use targeted treatments for areas such as the eye contour or lips.
There are cosmetic active ingredients to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles:
- Hyaluronic acid, thanks to its moisturizing action, plumps and fills the skin with water. The skin regains its suppleness.
- The antioxidant action of vitamin C can be useful in fighting against skin aging. It helps neutralize free radicals, thus energizing the activity of skin cells.
- Glycolic acid or lactic acid (A.H.A.) helps eliminate dead cells. They stimulate cell renewal.
- Retinol is also well known for reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin, two structural proteins. As a reminder, the levels of these two components tend to decrease with age.
